David Hockney at the Louis Vuitton Foundation
An Exceptional Retrospective
Until August 31, 2025, the Louis Vuitton Foundation is hosting a monumental exhibition dedicated to David Hockney, a key figure in contemporary art. Titled “David Hockney 25,” this unprecedented retrospective brings together over 400 works created between 1955 and 2025.
Hockney presents 70 years of creation through a wide variety of media: paintings, drawings, videos, digital works on iPhone and iPad. From his iconic Californian swimming pools to the landscapes of Yorkshire and Normandy, the exhibition highlights his constant artistic reinvention.
Highlights include:
-
A Bigger Splash (1967) and Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures) (1972)
-
A series of recent portraits and self-portraits created on iPad
-
The immersive installation 220 for 2020, reflecting the seasons in Normandy
-
A room dedicated to his artistic inspirations, from Fra Angelico to Picasso
-
His most recent works, inspired by Munch and Blake, presented for the first time in Paris
“Do remember they can’t cancel the spring” — this phrase, like a poetic manifesto, captures the free and luminous spirit of the exhibition.
